Description of Classes

Beginning Level I
Beginning Level I for those new to yoga and for those new to Iyengar yoga. This class is recommended for at least two 6 to 8-week sessions before progressing to the next level.
Continuing Level I
Refinement and continuation of Level I poses. Headstand is introduced. THIS CLASS IS NOT FOR BEGINNERS OR FOR THOSE NEW TO IYENGAR YOGA.
CREATING A HOME PRACTICE
In this class you will be guided through creating a home practice. Handouts provided. Separate pricing for certain class documents.
Desktop Yoga
Jnana Yoga: Philosophy and answers to your questions. Free.
Deva Dancers Belly Dancing
Long time Deva Dancers are meeting & holding classes at Elm Street Yoga. Join the fun!
Focused Study & Practice
All students with prior yoga experience are welcomed this Saturday morning class. We will address specific questions regarding practice & poses, as well as rpoceed throuhg a sequence.
Gentle Yoga
This class is for the student with chronic physical limitations such as autoimmune disease or impaired physical movement. Space is limited, please call: 657-2614, for further information.
Introduction to Yoga
This offering is an abbreviated beginner's class. It is appropriate to all new students to yoga. OR for those needing a quick well-structured yoga break during the day.
Level II
Further refinement of standing poses and inversions, i.e. long holds in headstand & shoulder stand. Introduction of new inversions, such as forearm balance & full arm balance. More advanced backbends are introduced.
Level II-III
Intermediate
Level III
For students who would like a deeper study of the previously introduced poses and more vigorous work. Students will learn to hold headstands & shoulderstands for 5-10 min, as well as to begin to balance without wall support. This class is limited to students who have permission of the instructor. STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO MAINTAIN A PERSONAL PRACTICE.
Mixed Level I-II
Prenatal Yoga
This class is designed for the student who has never taken yoga but would like the benefits during pregnancy. Calls are on going, please 657-2614 for further information.
Special Topics
These are special classes for a variety of physical issues. Examples of topics include knee pain, lower back pain, & neck & shoulder problems. New students are welcome to these classes. Call for more information.
